July 04, 2004 5:55 PM- the boys of summer

Ahh, enter the world of 3 year-old boys on a stunningly hot and sunny 4th of July.

The worst part of your day is having to wear sun SCREAM which requires you to stand still for a whole 8 seconds and, those other bad times when mom wipes the blackberry jam off your cheek even though you tell her in your best not-shouting voice, "dOoooon't! I LIKE it there!"

If you can get through that hardship, the world is your oyster. Blueberry waffles and maple syrup before running out into the grass which at 7 am is still damp with dew. Going up to the 82 and riding around on Uncle T's L-48 Kubota tractor and calling it a "kah-bodi". Grilling hot dogs on a campfire-- oh wait, one more moment of STRUGGLE since there was only mustard and no KETCHUP for your hot dog. But once you ate it with mustard you knew there was actually nothing better than a hot dog grilled on a campfire with mustard.

Going to the beach where the games are endless . . castle building, castle destroying, splashing your brother, throwing sand at your brother, apologizing to your brother, dumping water on your brother, even time-outs are fun at the beach cause you get to sit over in the pine trees and watch the gulls swoop down on the dumb little kids who feed them pretzels.

Yeah, getting naked and running back into the water and showing everyone how you jump like a dolphin--- this is living.

got 2 cents?

I've always thought so: the 'getting naked and running back into the water'...c'est living, n'est-ce pas?! Hey, easy on the sunSCREAM, pal. Too cute for words. (Obviously, since I struggled to find any.)

I had the EXACT weekend. Except it was MrZoot wiping BBQ sauce off my face. Kidding. But I wish I had. I would kill to get away with dumping water on my brother at family functions. That would rock.

I spent my holiday - July First, Canada Day - watching one mutt try to hump another all day, following her around until she barked at him and he barked back. Oh yeah, and climbing onto the roof to watch 2 sets of fireworks at the same time. Being scared on the roof the whole time, mind you. It was great.

Awwww, that photo is lovely! What a pair of gorgeous wee laddies. They look really mischievous too, so I can just imagine them wriggling like little eels when you're putting the sunscream on them!

Grilled hot dogs...mmmmm! [Cute pic...these two couldn't have possibly been the ones throwing sand on each other...it must be a case of mistaken identity!]

Sounds like a great weekend to me. Although people are always looking at me funny when I run down the beach naked.

the butterscotch boys are oh so delicious. And I had a hankering for grilled hot dogs with mustard - seems I should have been hanging out with you and the boys!

mmmm. that must have been wonderful and so relaxing to be around. I just love joyful, busy don't-wipe-my-face kids. This post made me miss my family back home in Mississippi. And our tractors.
