June 23, 2004 7:10 AM- packing my bags

Alright-y then.

The Good, the Bad and the Ugly:

Catching a young band of 22-year olds on 6th Avenue playing their hearts out on some Stevie Ray Vaughn. Sure, it makes you feel old. Reminds you that the sap in your veins is more crystal than liquid. But they were GOOD and it wrapped you in a blanket of sweet nostalgia. (Well, that and the tequila shooters which were also GOOD).

Rudy's the Worst Barbeque in Texas was GOOD. The queso at Aussie's was so very, very BAD. How could sausage queso be BAD you ask? When the two tablespoons or so of that pale orange-ish, gelatinous substance travels from your stomach into your upper intestine and quadruples in size and expands your intestines into swollen, gas-filled pockets of slow moving turbulence. Painful and BAD.

Thousands of bats on the Congress Street Bridge were not UGLY at all. It was very cool. Gave me a whole new appreciation for this small mammal whereas previously I just found them hideous and considered them nothing more than flying rodents.

Gotta go catch my cab now. Thanks Austin! It was fun.

got 2 cents?

O ow. the swollen intestine incident does not sound like fun at all, but whoooooo! bats! I've always been rather fond of them myself. Eygyptian fruit bats are my faves as you know, but i also like the wrinkly faced ones, the ones that look like they're experiencing really fragrant cheese or sitting next to someone oozing uber stink. In altogether other news, yesterday i saw a headline on one of those wacky tabloids like the "world" or the "examiner" or something which made me laugh out loud (and attracted suspicious glances from a creased and grumpy senior examining laxatives in a nearby aisle). It read: Dick Cheney is a Robot! I though that might explain some stuff.

My husband and I visited Austin in 2002, and it was amazing! We weren't there in bat season, though, but our hotel was right next to the Congress Street Bridge. I loved the giant bat sculpture that was there.

My first date with (now) hubby was to see Stevie Ray Vaughan play. It was amazing...Can someone tell me why he's dead and Jessica Simpson lives on? I mean, not that I wish her dead or anything, just being stricken mute would do nicely.
