June 20, 2004 8:18 AM- off again

In a continuing (yet COMPLETELY unintentional) effort to inflict trauma on my beloved T and make him relive unhappy past experiences, I leave for Austin, TX this afternoon.

You see, 10 days after our wedding (yes, not even two weeks, but 10 days when we were still deep in the throes of the sparkling pink bubble of transported bliss) I left for BreadLoaf for six weeks. Brutal. Truly brutal. But in my infinite wisdom I didn't postpone the summer of graduate school because I had been going to Middlebury, VT for the past 3 summers while we were together and isn't a summer like any other summer and aren't weddings just a big excuse to party and this won't have any effect on us at all, right?

Oh so wrong on all counts because of course Rush Limbaugh is not the only BIG, FAT, STUPID, IDIOT in America, oh no (he may be the worst and most vile and cause the most destruction) but he is not the only one.

So, though I didn't plan this repeat performance in any way-- it is a business trip-- I feel badly about punching on that old wound. Lucky for me, I am reading Wicked and think Elphaba will help purge me once and for all so that when I return I am all sweetness and light and can take care of my husband and our dogs and our home for the rest of the summ . .whoops, oh that's right, I go away AGAIN next week, too.

Honey? I'm sorry-- I'll bring you back a really great T-shirt, I promise. Feh.

And, you know I love you, right? Right?

got 2 cents?

Texas is not so bad...I grew up in the Deep South, and when I was looking at job offers I had to pick between a firm in Houston and a firm in NYC. I picked NYC, but those lawyers in Houston live a pretty nice life. Country clubs, golf all day, low cost of living...

Love weasels... heh. ;) Only been to Texas the once, for my cousin's wedding in Dallas. No offence to Dallasites, but I didn't think much of it; all your shops are on the side of the motorway, what's that all about? And what's with those bronze cows, they are frankly terrifying. Reminded me of Milton Keynes, actually. Mooo!

I'm so sorry dear poppy, that you have to be separated from the LOVE. I know all about this, as I am married to a military man, and we have to be separated for long periods of time. He is leaving for Georgia in two weeks and won't be back for TWO MONTHS. And he won't be here for my anniversary. We even had to cut our honeymoon short by 3 days because the Army called him back. And in December, we have to be separated for almost a YEAR (of course by then I'll be back in Mississippi and he'll be in GA, not TOO far away) but that is for a good thing... Officer school... so it means MO' MONEY! Try to have a good time, and then just ROCK HIS WORLD when you get back home.. "I missed you"sex it just the best

"Texas always seems so big..." Coming from Boston, driving in Texas made me feel like a sugar ant on a felt covered pool table. And the roads went on foreva. It did not help that I was bleary-eyed from crying at my brothers funeral. Ot that the renatl car I had really sucked scissors and would pull to the right. It was Spring, and the flowers were in bloom, while Boston slept tightly in a cloak of grey and misery. Um, you had best learn how to mount a rifle in your automobile. Very chic. Very Now. Very Au Courant...Texas Style.
