May 20, 2004 7:57 AM- Liza Doolittle Day

Astrology is bad for me. Not only is it a crock of shit, but once I've read it, it gets into my head and I can't shake the inevitability of the predictions it has made.

Foolish, foolish me. Feeling a bit stressed out and overwhelmed, knowing that there are some mammoth changes in the exceedingly near future (about to leave my job) and coming events that will disrupt the sanctuary of the blessed peace and quiet that is my home (READ: my family is here next weekend for 4 days) I thought I'd check in for a bit of cheer in the horoscopic realm.

Now, horoscopic is not a word but I like it and am going to use it anyway.

But, no salve was to be found with Ms. Cleo. According to the purveyors of planetary pulp fiction, my summer, now until September, will be plagued with the turbulence of a small 12-seat plane crossing over the mountains from Santa Fe to Denver. A very bumpy, stomach-dropping ride.

Damn. I just HAD to read that didn't I? I couldn't just take matters into my own hands and create my own reality for the summer which had change, but manageable change with a wonderful, magical, joyful outcome that made me sing praises to my guardian spirits for taking such good care of this unworthy, ever-whining wuss.

Yet, because of two real, flesh & blood angels (and you know who you are) I am oh-so-slowly beginning to have hope and vision for the future. I see myself walking off the corporate ship like Tiger Lily. Head held high as I walk the plank that will plunge me into a sea of financial uncertainty. But, hey--- Tiger Lily never hit the water did she?!!! Peter Pan swooped in and caught her and carried her away.

That's it. That's my vision.

Or else, in the event Peter Pan is indisposed and cannot rescue the Indian princess, moments before she hits the dark water she sprouts wings of her very own.

Um, actually. I prefer version two.

got 2 cents?

O..that's good. I'm rooting for vision #2 too, 'cuz i lost my Peter Pan suit in the Great Dry Cleaning Debacle of '82 and my swooping is just not up to par these days.

I suspect you're already in possession of some really incredible wings. All sparkly and strong. Just waiting for a chance to fly!

You'll be fine. I took a similar plunge (although mine was forced when the company folded) and though I did hit the water, I managed to swim through all the swells, claw my way back to shore and now I'm in the process of building myself a grand ol' hut by the sea. You'll be fine.

my psychic prediction: you leave the corporate world like a dandelion pod in the spring breeze . . . and after you finish twirly in the balmy air you land on a nice lush pad of grass where you turn into a lovely dandelion, miles and miles from crazy suburban dads who would otherwise heap nasty de-dandelion chemicals upon you . . . you grow into a stunningly golden flower, your leaves vibrant and bountiful, a few plucked for spring tonic tea by the bangladesh granolaheads that live in the yurt just up the road. All hail the goddess cross-matched bluepoppy/dandelion! (corporate living will soon be a dim memory :) K

You'll do fine. I just know it. As long as you're happy, you'll be fine. In January of this year I just up and stopped going to a job I had been at for about only two months. It's a long story as to why, but regardless, I was totally freaked out. In the end, it was a most positive move. I only know that now after beating myself up over it for a long time. On the fiipside to your exciting new adventure, I have just ended my stretch of freedom and working from home by taking a fulltime job again in San Francisco. Here's to working long hours again! Is it a bad sign I'm so completely envious of your situation. :]

Well, I can't really add anything to what your wonderful friends have said here so eloquently. I do want to say my parents and brother are coming here next weekend too, and they are staying for 4-5 days! What a coinkydinky! But the not same part is that I'll be leaving with them, (to go back home!!) hehe!

Oh goodness! I suck. I did mean to say that I wish you good good luck and that I think you will be fine. I just have a feeling that things will work out for the best. Everything happens for a reason...:)
