October 16, 2004 4:20 PM- autumn in New England

First, I should tell you that two nights ago I pulled the muscle in my neck-- the one that attaches your skull to your shoulders and I can't seem to consume enough ibuprofen to keep the pain at bay. What was I doing, you ask? One-armed pull-ups at the gym. Idiot. And it kills. So this will be a short post but I will be back someday---I really really will and I hope to find y'all still swinging on through.

So today I drove around and tried to capture a couple of the images here before autumn is gone for good. And if you look at the sky, you can see-- the rains are a' coming and once they do they will take down the last of the leaves and it will be all done.

Stay tuned for next Fall, however. Because I have put in a request to Santa for a real digital camera with a zoom lens. The camera I have is such a toy, it does a disservice to the subjects I try to photograph.

This is at the bottom of the hill we are living on and en route to my office-- so I guess you could say this is a photo of my commute (on a Saturday of course). It looks very different on a weekday.

So you don't have to go out and buy a New England wall calendar now, do you? Below is a funny place.

It is a small cemetery that has these two nuzzling gravestones. I get such a kick out of it every time I pass by. Their names are Martha and James Piper. Martha is snuggling on James.

But I had only a bit of time to grab these pics. My neck is killing me and, of course, I've got the butterscotch boys waiting for their walk. Can you see them there in their giant playpen?

got 2 cents?

O! Nuzzing tombstones!!! O, you gotta know that if I was a tombstone and you were anywhere near, I'd move heaven and earth to nuzzle you. Well, occassionally. I full intend to spend eternity nuzzling the handsome guy and the wolf, but of course. And maybe also Johnny Depp. But every so often, when the moon was hung just so, I'd hop my stone over to you and nuzzle you but good. Just like Martha Piper.

Oh I love the horses all snuggled up in their warm cozy blankies..and the fall colors? GASP. we have nothing like that here. If we are lucky? the leaves turn STRAIGHT to brown and fall off in February. blah.

um..by the way? if you were doing ONE ARMED pull ups without the assist machine? then you are more of a she-rah than me and skwigg combined. I bow to your supreme strengthness.

Despite my obsessive clicking on your site, I always seem to be the last to comment. Darn that time difference! Autumn is my favorite time of year (much as I love spring), and your photos made me all warm and fuzzy inside. I think I will deliberately have my and my husband's gravestones set up that way. How lovely!

Oh yogagirl, of COURSE I was using the assist. I am not even in your league when it comes to buffnes--but how how I aspire to be. No, it was a stupid fucking thing where I was pulling up (with the assist) on my left side and the club owner came in giving a tour and said "oh wow look at her go" and mid-pull I turned to look at her and the neck went POP. Live and learn, I guess but what a pain in the neck it has been-- LITERALLY.

I am so impressed by the fact that you were even attempting one-armed pull-ups, that it doesn't matter what you injured in the process. You are hard-core, woman!
